Mid-December, Rotarians from the Thrapston and Raunds area in Northamptonshire found out that the regional COVID vaccination centre needed help administering their schedule for the over 80s.
One of our Rotarians is registered at the surgery and once she found out they needed help, we managed to get three members on site straight away. They spent two days marshalling queues, getting patients into the correct time slots, helping the disabled, sorting out car parking, controlling traffic flow – as well as providing umbrellas when it rained and blankets for those who were feeling the effects of the cold weather. The Practice Manager was especially grateful as she’d been let down by people who had volunteered, but not turned up. Without Rotary’s help they would have had problems coping with the schedule.
Local Rotarians have now organised themselves to take over all the early January outdoor administrative tasks at the surgery when people return for their booster jabs.
